4 Day Weekend of Celebration!!!

Friday:

Mooncake Festival (Mid-Autumn Festival)
There are many legends explaining the Festival so feel free to look up why it is held. On display were giant (LED) lanterns and vendors selling mooncakes, tea, lanterns and other traditional items.

Lanterns.

Saturday: Lamma Island:

Can anyone identify this awesome flower? It's leaves look identical to that of a hibiscus.

This guy is just one of the many bazaar insects you'd find here in Hong Kong. Can anyone identify?

An old school from 1932 in one of the many villages found on Lamma Island.

Shek Pai Wan Beach. Just a 30 min boat ride from Central, and a 40 min hike from the pier. Well worth the hike.

Teaching friends to fish never gets old.

 Monday:
Today I went on my weekly random bike ride and found a very lively beach northeast of the Wu Kai Sha MTR station.

People crowded the streets along Victoria Harbor, rushing to get a good spot to view a fireworks display, which was held in celebration of The National Day of  the People's Republic of China.

I have never seen a more precise and perfect firework show. Three barges simultaneously blasting fireworks for 20 or so minutes was a great spectacle.

The reflection of the fireworks on the buildings was just as spectacular. Too bad I know nothing about video because photos don't do fireworks justice.
