Recently I have been seeing people burning food and paper in the streets. August is the month of the Hungry Ghost Festival, where people make food offerings to their hungry ancestors' spirits. Here a man burns paper and food.

Again more offerings are being made. I've been told that this practice is becoming less common throughout Honk Kong because the younger generation is more interested in more modern religions such as Christianity.
Most businesses and homes have little Taoist or Buddhist shrines. Incense are burned as offerings.
Hey man, they don't burn the food. Food is for offering only.
